Organizational Overview

First Round Foundation was formed in March 2026, in New Mexico. The organization focuses on securing and leveraging resources to assist the underprivileged through collaborative partnerships with individuals, companies, and qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations across the state.

A review of the nonprofit landscape in New Mexico reveals that there are more than 9,000 nonprofit organizations operating statewide (Center for Nonprofit Excellence). Many of these organizations operate below the revenue threshold requiring them to file an annual report with the federal government. As a result, they often lack the infrastructure, staffing, and financial capacity necessary to build sustainable fundraising systems.

Many small and rural nonprofits do not have the resources to hire a dedicated development director. Instead, they often rely on a single individual to manage administrative duties, program implementation, and resource development responsibilities simultaneously. This structure frequently limits the time, expertise, and strategic focus needed to cultivate donor relationships and implement effective fundraising initiatives. These challenges are particularly pronounced in rural communities throughout New Mexico.

First Round Foundation will help address this gap by developing collaborative relationships centered on serving the underprivileged, underserved, and vulnerable. We assist in securing monetary and in-kind donations through direct solicitation, modeling best practices, training, equipping partners, and enabling them to build sustainable and replicable fundraising systems.

All efforts undertaken by First Round Foundation are collaborative in nature, with a strong emphasis on establishing effective resource development systems, processes, and procedures. These systems are designed to increase long-term sustainability and expand the availability of services for underserved populations in rural and other communities across New Mexico.
